El capital social comunitario en las iniciativas del Centro Integral de Experimentación y Capacitación en Agricultura y Crianza de Especies Menores (CHINAMPA) en el cantón Cabañas, distrito de Ciudad Delgado, San Salvador
Through a qualitative approach, the community social capital reflected in the organizational resources present at the “Centro Integral de Experimentación y Capacitación en la Agricultura y Crianza de Especies Menores” (CHINAMPA) was studied. This space was created in the 1980s as a garden managed by the local parish to support individuals displaced by the civil war in El Salvador. This research analyzed the development over the years of relationships, resource management, norms, and values within the initiative, located in the Cabañas canton, in the Ciudad Delgado district, in the municipality of San Salvador Centro. This allowed for the identification of the existence (or lack thereof) of a spirit of collaboration and coordination to promote the common good in the area, which is essentially the central concept of the study. CHINAMPA has played a crucial role in territorial development in the aforementioned cantón, particularly in terms of economic and organizational aspects. However, there have been many challenges, such as the risk of exclusion, self-sustainability, and other factors, which are also an important part of the analysis in this document.
