Design of Broadband High Efficiency Power Amplifier based on Harmonic Control and Filter Matching

Aimming at the demand for broadband and high-efficiency power amplifiers in communication systems, this paper proposes a power amplifier design method based on the combination of harmonic control and matched filtering. By harmonics control and optimizing the output matching network through Advanced Design System (ADS), The power amplifier not only achieve broadband and high-efficiency, but also the low-pass filtering function. The simulation results demonstrate that drain efficiency (DE) of 59.7% to 74.4% and output power of 40.5 dBm to 41.8 dBm is achieved with the gain between 11.7 dB to 13.1 dB across 1.8 GHz to 3.0 GHz. And what's more, the suppression of the second harmonic can reach 63.6 dBc.
