Performance Simulation and Analysis of LEO Constellation
Satellite communication systems play a crucial role in modern telecommunications and enhance global e-Navigation capabilities. This study focuses on the construction of a Low earth orbit (LEO) with 60+80 constellation scheme, dividing its construction cycle into three phases. In the first phase, detailed simulations are conducted to assess coverage performance in regional ocean area, and a strategy for selecting two orbits is proposed. Additionally, a comprehensive simulation analysis was conducted to explore the performance of the system at different construction phases, focusing on coverage, visibility, and accuracy factors of satellites on both regional and global scales. Simulation results indicate that in the first phase, selecting a strategy with 1-4 or 1-5 orbits can maximize regional coverage of ocean area. Additionally, compared with single constellation, the 60+80 constellation scheme could achieve 100% global coverage and improve the geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) performance by more than 3 times in the longitude level and by more than 5 times in the latitude level.
