Kramers–Kronig Receiver Without DC Component Recovery Enabled by End-to-End Artificial Neural Network Modelling
In practical high-speed optical fiber communication scenarios, the alternating current (AC) coupled photodetector (PD) is widely used because of its stability and high efficiency. However, it causes direct current (DC) component loss, which seriously degrades the performance of the Kramers–Kronig (KK) receivers. In this paper, a KK receiver without DC component recovery enabled by the end-to-end artificial neural network modelling is proposed when using the AC-coupled PD, which can achieve an equivalent performance as the complicated DC-sweep scheme. The proposed scheme is experimentally verified through a virtual-carrier single-sideband direct-detection system.
