Generalized Random OFDM-IM Backscatter Communication: Verification and Implementation

In this paper, we propose generalized random orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (GR-OFDM-IM) based on golden angle modulation (GAM) for backscatter communication, which enables the tag to achieve sparse vector mappings for arbitrary bit transmission. Then we derive the average bit error probability (ABEP) of GR-OFDM-IM backscatter signals to assess its performance, and design a self-interference cancellation signal detection algorithm based on reflection coefficient (SIC-RC). Additionally, a hardware prototype is designed for implementing and validating the proposed scheme. Both experimental and simulation results confirm that the proposed GR-OFDM-IM backscatter scheme outperforms traditional schemes.
