Cross-plane image encryption based on a new 2D chaotic map and DNA cryptography
Cyberattacks pose a severe threat to image transmission over the Internet, heightening the need for data privacy protection. However, traditional text encryption algorithms struggle with the high redundancy and large data volume of images. To address this, we developed a cross-plane image encryption scheme based on a new 2D chaotic map and DNA dynamic encryption. Unlike other image encryption schemes, this scheme randomly disrupts the pixels in the RGB channels of color images through cross-plane column and row scrambling (CCRS), where small changes can rapidly influence the entire encryption result. Besides, a new two-dimensional chaotic map (2D CGM) has been designed, offering a broader range of parameters and higher randomness. In our encryption scheme, we use the chaotic sequence generated by 2D CGM to select the rules of DNA encryption and CCRS, effectively breaking the strong correlation between image pixels. Simulation results demonstrate that this scheme effectively protects image data against cyberattacks, including exhaustive, statistical, and differential attacks, and outperforms current encryption schemes.
