O problemach warsztatowych i koncepcyjnych związanych z pisaniem monografii sejmikowej dla XVIII wieku. Uwagi w związku z pracą Pawła Paciorka

This review article is a critical approach to Paweł Paciorek’s monograph (The Regional Assemblies of Sandomierz Province in the Years 1764–1795: the Structure and Function) published by Ipso Facto publishing house, Poznań–Kielce 2023 (pp. 337). Unfortunately, the work does not meet the requirements applying to this type of work. It is incoherent in terms of the concept and structure outlined in the introduction. In view of the diverse experiences of recent years,focusing mainly on Pawiński’s Volumes seems insufficient if not anachronistic when it comes to research into the 18th century. The lack of full documentation on the instructions and resolutions should have prompted Paweł Paciorek to do more archive research and draw more cautious conclusions. Much of the key material has long been available online and yet has not been used. Moreover, the reviewed material has not been fully exploited. Numerous errors and inconsistencies, resulting from insufficient attention to the analysis of the materials and literature, are an indication that this work should be approached with a great deal of caution. However, it seems more appropriate that the history of the Sandomierz Voivodeship assembly during the reign of Stanisław August Poniatowski should be properly reworked.
