Structure and mechanical properties of hemisphere forgings made of high-strength titanium VT23 alloy produced by isothermal forging from forged and granular blanks
The results of the structure and testing of the mechanical properties of hemisphere forgings produced by isothermal forging from rod and granular blanks made of titanium VT23 alloy are presented. It is shown that the application of granular blanks obtained by using the technology of granule metallurgy and hot isostatic pressing provides an increase both in plasticity and in impact toughness in hemisphere forgings of up to 54 % with almost equal strength in comparison with forged rod blanks. The effect of rod and granular blanks on the hemisphere forgings metal structure after isothermal forging without heat treatment and in the heat-treated condition is studied.
