Wireless bioelectronic devices for next-generation electrotherapy

Summary
Bioelectronics, a crossing of the fields of biological systems and electronic devices, is rapidly evolving to tackle broader biomedical and healthcare challenges. With advancing electrotherapies, clinical and industrial practice demands wireless, autonomously controllable, and multifunctional bioelectronic devices that can improve patient experience and user friendliness for next-generation electrotherapies. In this perspective, we overview the integration of on-site power-supply technologies and control systems for wireless bioelectronic electrotherapy devices and identify some key application scenarios of such devices, focusing on their potential as future healthcare solutions. Furthermore, we envision that the development of on-site power supplies, artificial intelligence for real-time analysis and control, and diversified functionalities will be the future opportunities and promising trends that attract endeavors despite some remaining challenges.
