Evaluating the Application of Virtual Reality Technology in Disaster Prevention Education: A Case Study of Sichuan Province, China

This study evaluates the application of virtual reality (VR) technology in disaster prevention and mitigation education at the Sichuan Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Education Center. We conducted a comparative analysis between two groups: one using traditional emergency training methods (control group) and the other using VR-based training (experimental group). Data from 472 participants revealed that the experimental group, which experienced VR-based training, reported greater satisfaction and perceived the training as more immersive and effective compared to the control group. Additionally, the experimental group demonstrated shorter learning times and higher willingness to adopt VR in the future. This study highlights the potential of VR technology to improve emergency preparedness training and offers insights into the benefits and challenges of its implementation in disaster education.
