FATORES QUE AFETAM A SAÚDE MENTAL DAS PESSOAS QUE MORAM NAS COMUNIDADES RIBEIRINHAS DO ESTADO DO AMAPÁ

ABSTRACT The paper addresses the influence of traumatic factors on the mental health of riverside popu lations, with an emphasis on the impacts of scalping and sexual abuse. The study seeks to understand how these experiences affect individuals’ psychological well-being by analyzing the emotional, social, and economic consequences resulting from these traumas. The methodology used is based on a literature review, considering legislation and public policies focused on protecting and assisting victims. The results indicate that, despite the existence of laws such as Law No. 11.970/2009, which mandates the installation of protections on boat engines to prevent accidents, challenges persist in the implementation and enforcement of these measures. Additionally, socioeconomic vulnerability and geographic isolation hinder access to specialized mental health services, exacerbating the suffering of victims. The lack of adequate support contributes to the development of psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. The research concludes that the effectiveness of public policies and the creation of integrated mental health care strategies are crucial to minimizing the impacts of these traumas and ensuring proper support for riverside populations, promoting their quality of life and social inclusion.
