Devices for short-term earthquake prediction and methane exploitation installed on gas springs along offshore and onshore faults

The article presents devices that can be very useful in facilitating short-term prediction of strong earthquakes at sea and on land, with resource options for the exploitation of methane from gas sources along relevant faults. A concise description of the devices is provided, elucidating their functions and behaviour as the gas flow characteristics readings from the respective sensors vary. The devices can be used for exploration in the Kaliakra seismic zone, encompassing parts of the Bulgarian and Romanian shelf. This will facilitate parallel systematic studies of the Bulgarian and Romanian shelf and coast, with a view to preventing casualties and losses in the event of a possible imminent strong earthquake. The devices have been developed at the NGO “EKOS” (Expert Club on the Environment) and have been patented.
