Trump 2.0 Cold War with China in 2025 and Beyond

Abstract This article decodes Sino-US relations. Using a qualitative approach, it reviews the root causes of the uncertain relations between the two largest economies of the world. The competition with each other is not only within the domain of economics, but also deeply involves the respective core interests and security concerns in terms of geopolitics and world order. Given this, the article argues that although the sides are aware that diplomacy is the only option to handle the mutual suspicion and respective security concerns, their misperceptions of each national strength can lead to mismanagement of the escalating uncertainties. Both sides need a grand strategy to buttress each other’s feasible ends, rather than a specific vision of victory.
