Methods of Organizing Water Features in Classical Chinese Gardens--Yuyuan Garden Model

Taking the Yuyuan Garden, a famous private garden in Shanghai during the Ming and Qing dynasties, as an example, this paper discusses the organization of water features in classical Chinese gardens and their evolution in different historical stages. Through a detailed analysis of the changes in the water system of Yuyuan Garden, it reveals the methods of water feature organization in Yuyuan Garden in different periods and the profound cultural significance behind it. The changes in the water system of the Yuyuan Garden not only reflect the historical epitome of the garden in a certain period, but also the demonstration of the design concepts of classical Chinese gardens in practical application, which provides valuable insights and references for contemporary garden design.
