An analysis of the integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment strategy and research progress for Mycoplasma pneumonia infection in children

With the rising incidence of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in children, effective treatments are a research priority. This review compares MPP treatments in children using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine, highlighting recent research advancements. Western medicine primarily uses antibiotics to control pathogens, whereas TCM focuses on adjusting the child's physical constitution and treating based on syndrome differentiation. Recent studies show that combining TCM and western medicine offers better outcomes than single-method treatments, such as higher cure rates, shorter recovery times, and reduced recurrence rates. Additionally, this combination can enhance treatment efficacy and minimize drug side effects. Future research should explore optimal TCM-western medicine combinations, including TCM prescription standardization, treatment plan optimization, and long-term effect evaluation, to provide a scientific, rigorous, and innovative approach to clinical treatment.
