Evaluation of Salt Tolerance in Sorghum bicolor Using Root Tip Section
Sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) has emerged as a prime candidate for bioenergy feedstock production in saline-alkali soils. A rapid method of screening salt-tolerant sweet sorghum varieties is necessary for the rational use and improvement of saline-alkali land. In the present study, a rapid in vitro method to evaluate salt tolerance in sweet sorghum by monitoring physiological indicators in root tip sections under salt stress were proposed. It laid a foundation for rapid screening of a large number of varieties and the selection of sweet sorghum suitable for planting in saline-alkali land.
