Infectious diseases: Addressing global challenges and prevention strategies for national health improvement

Infectious diseases remain a significant global health concern, posing substantial challenges in terms of healthcare systems and societal impact. The emergence of new infectious agents and the re-emergence of known pathogens continually present challenges in disease prevention and control worldwide. This study aims to analyze the current landscape of infectious diseases, highlighting their impact on global health and exploring preventive strategies to mitigate their spread and impact. The review paper sourced data from published studies on PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using keywords like infectious diseases, global health, global challenges and prevention strategies. Retrieved literature was screened for eligibility. The literature search considered publications from 2018 to 2024 to focus on variables of the study. In the review Six themes (issues) emerged which are: (1) The Global Impact on Health (2) Factors Contributing to Global Spread (3) Prevention Strategies (4) Global Collaborative Efforts and Interventions (5) Challenges in Prevention and Control (6) Health Belief Model in Conclusion, the study reinforces the significance of a multifaceted and collaborative approach to address the challenges posed by infectious diseases, by implementing the prevention strategies, fostering international cooperation, and leveraging advancements in healthcare technology.
