<ns3:p>This paper discusses the Covid -19 pandemic and its impact on leadership roles in conservation departments in Jamaica, focusing on the National Library of Jamaica (NLJ) and the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Library. It will show the strategies used and the outcomes of the methods implemented. It will discuss the collaboration between these entities and their impact. It will also examine the training of conservation professionals in the Caribbean for leadership roles. There needs to be greater appreciation for the nuances involved in leading conservation initiatives in heritage institutions in territories with a limited pool of professionals. This highlights the perennial challenge of the lack of training available to conservation personnel and shows some ways to address this issue. The paper concludes with the lessons learned and the way forward through the lingering effects of the pandemic.</ns3:p>
