MAGNETO-NANOFLUID DYNAMICS IN A COSINE-SHAPED STENOSED ARTERY: A FINITE DIFFERENCE APPROACH

This study investigates the two-dimensional blood flow dynamics in a stenosed artery with a cosine-shaped constriction, considering the effects of a magnetic field and silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs). The focus is on understanding how the magnetic field and nanoparticles influence both the velocity and temperature profiles of the nanofluid, with the blood modeled as a conducting fluid under magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) conditions. The governing equations for momentum and heat transfer, represented by the Navier-Stokes and energy equations, are solved using the finite difference method (FDM) on a structured grid. Numerical simulations are conducted to observe the effects of the magnetic field and nanoparticles on both velocity and temperature fields at various time steps. Results reveal that the magnetic field acts as a damping force on the blood flow, reducing velocity in the stenosed regions, while the presence of silver nanoparticles enhances heat transfer, leading to localized temperature control. These findings have significant implications for improving the efficiency of nanoparticle-based therapies, such as targeted drug delivery and thermal treatment in cardiovascular diseases.
