A COGNITIVE LINGUISTIC APPROACH TO HYPERBOLIC BLENDS
This study explores hyperbolic blends, a creative word-formation technique, through cognitive modeling. It categorizes these blends into intensifying and non-intensifying sets with unique features and functions. The analysis demonstrates systematicity in blend creation and interpretation, confirming hyperbole's prevalence in language and reasoning. The research also refines lexical blending definitions, recognizing nonce formations as potential blend components.
