In-Vitro Screening of Antidiabetic, Anti-hyperlipidemic and Antioxidant Activity of Siddha Polyherbal Formulation Cuṇṭai Vaṟṟal Cūraṇam (CVC)
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global health issue characterized by disrupted glucose and insulin homeostasis, leading to serious complications like neuropathy, cardiovascular diseases, and retinopathy. WHO stated that the Diabetes mellitus caused nearly 1.5 million deaths in 2019, 4,60,000 of Medico Renal Disease death and 20% of Cardiovascular deaths that occur globally. Cuṇṭai Vaṟṟal Cūraṇam was recognized for its multifaceted health benefits, offering potential solutions to modern day metabolic disorders. This article aims to explore in-vitro analysis of Antidiabetic, Antihyperlipidemic and Antioxidant Activity of traditional Siddha formulation CVC. The results of the study showed that CVC have maximum inhibition against α-amylase inhibition (93.08%), α-glucosidase inhibition (94.65%), HMG-CoA reductase (63.54%), DPPH scavenging (67.3%) and ABTS scavenging (74.7%) assays. It implicates that the drug has an efficacy to maintain and reduce postprandial hyperglycemia, hypercholesterolemia and reduce the ROS production through its biological activities. Hence the current study postulates that this drug may have an efficacy in the management of T2DM and its associated complications. Further in vivo studies and clinical trials need to be done to validate this scientific claim.
