METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO ASSESSING THE POTENTIAL OF THE TOURISM AND RECREATION SPHERE OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

The article analyzes publications of domestic and foreign scientists with methodological approaches to assessing the tourism potential of the Russian Federation and regions; studies factors influencing competition in the tourism industry; characterizes the main factors determining the tourist attractiveness of the regions of the Russian Federation; provides a number of factors for assessing the potential of the tourism industry of the country and regions, which include historical and cultural heritage, natural and recreational conditions and resources, infrastructure, information, finance, investment, management, social conditions, personnel, environmental and architectural and aesthetic conditions; identifies the main problems of a comprehensive assessment of the potential of tourism and recreation in the country and regions; proves the feasibility and necessity of a quantitative assessment of tourist attractiveness at the level of the country or a certain region; proposes a model for assessing the potential of tourism and recreation at different levels of its implementation.
