Spontaneous Splenic Rupture in Pregnant Female – An Unusual Cause of Acute Abdomen in Pregnancy
Abstract Spontaneous rupture of normal spleen is rare in pregnancy and can lead to fatal consequences for both mother and fetus. Early intervention can have favorable pregnancy outcomes. We present a case of a 22-year-old primigravida with signs of acute abdomen and shock of sudden onset, who was diagnosed with splenic rupture and underwent emergency splenectomy. Though the patient had an uneventful course, the fetus did not survive due to maternal shock.
