Characteristics of partial discharge development in high voltage cables at different temperature
In order to elucidate the influence of temperature on the characteristics of cable partial discharge, this paper designs and produces a discharge model along the surface and tip under laboratory conditions. Additionally, a temperature control box and partial discharge measurement system are constructed to investigate the impact of temperature on the generation of cable partial discharge. The experimental results indicate that, when the temperature increases from 20°C to 90°C under the large load operation condition, the partial discharge onset voltage of the defective model decreases, although the trend is different. Additionally, the amplitude of the partial discharge pulse and the maximum discharge volume increase with the increase of temperature. The conclusions of this study provide a fundamental basis for detecting the development characteristics of partial discharges and evaluating the insulation degradation condition under different temperatures.
