Atomically precise Cu14 and Cu13 nanoclusters for the oxygen evolution reaction: one additional Cu atom matters

Structurally similar Cu 14 and Cu 13 NCs were synthesized as model OER catalysts. Cu 14 exhibited superior activity due to an extra Cu atom acting as the key active site, which significantly lowers the energy barrier of the rate-determining step.

Abstract

Structurally similar Cu 14 and Cu 13 NCs were synthesized as model OER catalysts. Cu 14 exhibited superior activity due to an extra Cu atom acting as the key active site, which significantly lowers the energy barrier of the rate-determining step.
