In the context of modern development of the Russian Federation, it is imperative to establish a new paradigm of economic education that encompasses a comprehensive array of both external and internal factors. With enterprises undergoing the technological upgrading, the labor market imposes new requirements regarding personnel training, particularly those with economic major. The article studies the initiatives undertaken by the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in the field of economic education modernization in such key areas as the training of specialists with related qualifications, combining fundamental education with the interdisciplinary applied competencies development and fostering entrepreneurial and research skills.
