The Great Victory in the Paradigm of Russian Sacredness
In the article the author examines the Victory Day symbolism in the context of Russian sacredness paradigm. He emphasizes the symbolic connection of the Victory Day with the Easter Victory and Christ’s sacrifice. Inner transfiguration of a person, ready to “lay down his life for his friends”, the author views as a form of theosis, and the Great Patriotic War – as an existential and religious conflict with the West. The contemporary form of the Western modern is defined as technocratic archaic that preserves as one of its foundations the pagan institution of sacred sacrifice, for which role Russia has been chosen because its existence leads to the failure of European identity reproduction designed for anti-Christian geo-cultural model. In the article the author describes the attempts to destroy Russian sacredness paradigm, in particular, informational attacks on the Victory Day and the struggle to take over the people’s symbolic language.
