The Struggle against the Memory of the Great Patriotic War in the Baltic States and Moldavia
The article examines the politics of the Baltic states and Moldavia regarding the memory of the Great Patriotic War. In the Baltic States, books by local natives responsible for the Holocaust are published, books justifying Nazism are written, and the works of Nazi criminals are republished. Monuments to Soviet soldiers are also being actively dismantled in the Baltic States. In Moldavia, the Romanian occupation of 1940–1944 is termed liberation and praised. In Moldavia, they are trying to ban the Saint George ribbon; they erect monuments to the Romanian occupiers and want to demolish monuments to Soviet soldiers.
