Battle of Kursk: The Historical Truth through the Prism of the Documentary Heritage
Historical memory of the Great Patriotic War should be based on real documents, not memoirs and historical research processed by Soviet censorship. Strings of falsehood only obscure the feat of Soviet soldiers and officers. They had to fight a very serious enemy, overcoming numerous problems related to the lack of ammunition, motor transport, engineer support, proper coordination between combat units, etc. In the article the author examines the problems and shortcomings reflected in the reports of Voronezh Front on the results of the Battle of Kursk (05.07–23.08.1943). The understanding of all these problems contribute to the realization of the true depth of the feat of the Russian people and the peoples of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War.
