Impermeable and Elastic Polydimethylsiloxane Film by Parylene‐Caulking for Inflatable Soft Devices (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 7/2025)
Parylene-Caulked Parylene-Caulked Polydimethylsiloxane In article 2400629, Satoshi Konishi and co-workers present a method to synthesize an impermeable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film via poly-para-xylylene (parylene)-caulking, which also preserves its elasticity. The results will contribute to a wide range of applications that require gas impermeability of PDMS in particularly the field of soft sensors and actuators. The method is applied to pneumatic balloon actuators as an example of inflatable soft devices.
