Causes of the Creation of Professional Agricultural Educational Organizations in the Steppe Region at the End of the 19th Century
The article analyzes the reasons for the creation of educational institutions graduating professional specialists for agriculture in the Steppe Region at the end of the 19th century. The research is based on the reports of the governors-general of the Steppe Region for 1887-1888, 1890, as well as on the statistical materials found in the Reviews ofthe regions for 1890, 1895, 1900, 1910, 1912. The article shows that the development of the network of agricultural schools was determined by the increase in the peasant population of the region associated with the resettlement movement. In addition, an important factor in the foundation of professional educational organizations of this type was the problem of food security, which entailed an increase in the number of cultivated areas and required a completely different approach to processing. In conclusion, the author summarizes that the creation of agricultural educational institutions in the Steppe Region was conditioned by a number of changes in the socio-economic relations that occurred in the region at the end of the 19th century. The insufficient level of agronomic support to the population of the region forced state structures at various levels to get involved not only in the process of organizing specialized educational institutions, but also in regulating their activities aimed at agricultural education of the region's population.
