Medium-dependent regioselectivity of electrochemical bromination of methyl levulinate

The method for electrochemical bromination of methyl levulinate using ammonium bromide is reported. In MeCN : H 2 O mixture, it proceeded via enol intermediate favoring C-3 bromination, and in MeOH – via enol ether favoring C-5 bromination.
