Paradoxical roles of senescence in pancreatic cancer
Senescence represents the crucial biological characterized by permanent cell cycle arrest, metabolic reconfigurations, and alterations in gene expression. Recent studies reported the involvement in senescence during the processes of tumor development, especially in pancreatic cancer, which is one of the most metastatic cancers. Thus, this review aims to summarize the paradoxical function of senescence in cells during process of pancreatic cancer, serving both as a tumor suppressor and facilitator. Furthermore, we also focused on the senescence-related signaling pathways involved in the pancreatic cancer microenvironment. This review provides new perspectives for targeted senescence for therapy pancreatic cancer.
