A dual channel non-contact pipeline strain measuring device
Strain information contains important dynamic characteristics of structure and could reflect the health status change inside the structure. In a narrow space, pipeline strain measurement could be a challenge in engineering. This paper employs a sensing beam to perform non-contact strain measurement. In this study, the frequency response function is used to assess the relation between the measured strain on the sensing beam and the true strain of pipeline structure. Then, we proposed a dual-channel measurement device that can be applied in narrow space to measure pipeline strain. The device is tested in an experiment platform, and the test results show that the sample variance of the continuous output signal is less than 0.7. The relative average deviation of the strain measurement results of the two channels of the measurement system is less than 9%.
