Infectious Diseases Outbreaks Transmission, Dynamics of Control Measures and Public Health Responses in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State, Nigeria

The study examined infectious diseases outbreak transmission dynamic of control measures and public health responses in Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos State, Nigeria. Three research questions and hypotheses were used, the study adopted descriptive survey research. A total of three hundred (300) respondents were selected from Alimosho LGA of Lagos State using the simple random sampling techniques. The study adopted a self-developed questionnaire titled “Infectious Diseases Outbreak, Control Questionnaire” [IDOCQ]. The questionnaire was divided into two sections: A and B. Section A contained demographic data of respondents, while section B contained items testing the stated hypotheses. The data was collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency count and percentage for demographic data, while independent t-test was used to test all the stated hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study showed that: there is no significant difference between environmental factors and the spread of infectious diseases outbreak in Alimosho LGA of Lagos State; there is significant difference between the causative agents and transmission route of infectious disease outbreak in Alimosho LGA of Lagos State and that, there is no significant difference between health interventions and vaccination campaigns in Alimosho LGA of Lagos State. The study recommends that Health authorities in Alimosho LGA should develop comprehensive plans that integrate environmental management, community engagement, healthcare infrastructure improvements, and targeted vaccination campaigns.
