Electromagnetic waves in a conducting medium in cylindrically symmetric space-time

The system of Maxwell equations describing electromagnetic waves of the fixed frequencyand azimuthal quantum number in a conducting medium in cylindrical metric has been analyzed.Using Newman-Penrose method, the system was reduced to the system of two uncoupledsecond-order ordinary differential equations for two unknown functions correspondingto two different polarizations of the electromagnetic wave. The analytical representation of solutionsof the equations for some restrictions has been found.

Abstract

The system of Maxwell equations describing electromagnetic waves of the fixed frequencyand azimuthal quantum number in a conducting medium in cylindrical metric has been analyzed.Using Newman-Penrose method, the system was reduced to the system of two uncoupledsecond-order ordinary differential equations for two unknown functions correspondingto two different polarizations of the electromagnetic wave. The analytical representation of solutionsof the equations for some restrictions has been found.
