RINGS FROM EXCAVATIONS OF THE SETTLEMENT AND BURIAL GROUND OF TELYACHY BROD

The settlement and burial ground Telyachy Brod are located on the right bank of the Usva River near the town of Chusovoy in the Perm Region. The burial ground is divided into two parts by a ritual ditch. The burial ground is dated to the VII–IX and XI–XIV centuries, the settlement – to the XI–XIV centuries. The collection is kept in the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography of the Perm Region of the Perm State Pedagogical University. 19 rings were found on the sites. They were discovered in the later part of the burial ground and in the settlement. The classification was based on morphological features and manufacturing techniques. The rings are divided into two categories: shieldless and shielded. According to manufacturing techniques, the products are divided into cast, forged, cut according to a template, and made of wire. Cast rings are represented in greater numbers, which is typical in general for the medieval jewelry business of the Permian Urals. By their origin, rings are divided into local, imported, made in imitation of Bulgar, made in imitation of Old Russian, widespread due to fashion. Among the local products on the monuments there are rings, which have no analogues on other medieval monuments of the Permian Urals and beyond. Probably, the settlement of Telyachy Brod had its own jewelry workshop.
