O USO DE LAVAGEM APÓS TORACOSTOMIA DE CAUSA TRAUMÁTICA COM INTUITO DE REDUÇÃO DA INCIDÊNCIA DE HEMOTÓRAX RESIDUAL: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA
Modern medicine has significantly progressed towards less interventionist therapeutic approaches, prioritizing minimally invasive treatments that accelerate recovery and reduce complications. Retained hemothorax is a major complication requiring more invasive interventions, increasing morbidity, mortality, and hospital costs. A systematic search was conducted in databases, including PubMed, to identify relevant studies published until 2024. Inclusion criteria covered observational studies, case reports, and case series on thoracic trauma requiring thoracostomy. Eight articles were identified, encompassing 1,651 participants. Techniques like thoracic irrigation proved effective in reducing complications, minimizing the incidence of retained hemothorax, and decreasing surgical reinterventions. Additionally, it reduces hospital stay durations and costs. Future research should further explore the application of this technique in various scenarios to consolidate its effectiveness.
