FATORES RELACIONADOS À MORTALIDADE MATERNA EM SITUAÇÕES DE EMERGÊNCIAS OBSTÉTRICAS: REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA
Maternal mortality is a crucial indicator of the quality of health services and reflects inequalities in access and care provided to pregnant women. In obstetric emergency situations, several factors contribute to the fatal outcome, including structural barriers, limitations in pre-hospital care, failures to identify complications early and difficulties in specialized assistance. This integrative review seeks to synthesize the main evidence on the factors associated with maternal mortality in obstetric emergencies, analyzing studies that address direct and indirect causes, response time in care and socioeconomic impacts. The findings indicate that delays in recognizing the severity of the condition, inadequate transportation and limitations in clinical management are critical determinants. Furthermore, factors such as poverty, low education and limited access to qualified health services increase the risk of maternal death. Understanding these factors can support strategies for improving obstetric care, including professional training, expanding the care network and implementing efficient protocols for emergency management, contributing to reducing maternal mortality and promoting maternal and child health.
