Data show donor participation rates continue to drop
Fundraising data from the third quarter of 2024 shows that donor consolidation continues across the charitable sector, continuing a trend seen in previous quarters, according to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). According to the group's latest data—released as part of the Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP), a project of the AFP, GivingTuesday and other industry groups—the sector is seeing a small increase in total dollars donated, with a modest 0.9% increase in dollars raised during Q3 of 2024. However, this growth actually “masks” a significant drop in donor participation, particularly among smaller donors—gifts under $100—who saw a steep decline of –12.4% for the period, the AFP said.
