Epitheloid Schwannoma – An Uncommon Benign Nerve Sheath Tumor
Epithelioid schwannoma is considered a rare variant of benign schwannoma, commonly seen in the second to sixth decade of life. A 24-year-old woman presented with a solitary asymptomatic mass measuring 2 cm × 1 cm over the left scapular area. Biopsy from the lesion revealed an encapsulated tumor composed of characteristic epithelioid Schwann cells embedded in hyalinized stroma and tumor cells were diffusely positive for S-100, hence confirming the diagnosis of epithelioid schwannoma. We are reporting this case due to its rarity.
