Assessing Challenges and Opportunities in Health Information Management in Iran During COVID‐19: A Qualitative Study on the Role of Statistical Data and Digital Health

ABSTRACT This qualitative study examines challenges and opportunities in health information management in Iran during the COVID‐19 pandemic, with a focus on the role of statistical data and digital health solutions. Semi‐structured interviews were conducted with health experts in Mashhad, Iran until data saturation was achieved. Interview transcripts were audio‐recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using an inductive content analysis approach with MAXQDA software (version 20). The study was reported in accordance with the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) guidelines. Findings reveal critical issues—including inconsistent data collection, fragmented electronic health record systems, and underutilized digital health innovations—and highlight opportunities for policy adjustments to enhance crisis response. These insights offer valuable guidance for policymakers and healthcare professionals aiming to strengthen health system resilience in future emergencies.
