A STUDY ON THE RESTORATION STRATEGY FOR CONSECUTIVE ANTERIOR TOOTH LOSS-BASED ON NARROW-DIAMETER IMPLANTS: A FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS EXPERIMENT

In this paper, the finite element method was used to analyze the feasibility of the cantilever implant approach in the case of double tooth loss in the lower anterior teeth. A two-tooth loss model was constructed using 3[Formula: see text]mm narrow-diameter implants with three implant lengths (11, 13, and 15[Formula: see text]mm), two restorative modalities (single implant-supported cantilevered bridge and double implant-supported fixed bridge), and two loading methods (100[Formula: see text]N applied parallel to the long axis of the tooth in the area of the distal mesial end of the mandibular right and left incisors and the double crown junction and 100[Formula: see text]N applied perpendicular to the long axis of the tooth in the area of the median right and left incisors in the coronal plane). A total of 12 groups were analyzed using static analysis to evaluate the crown deformation and the distribution of the equivalent stress in the implant and the surrounding bone. It was found that for narrow implants of 3[Formula: see text]mm, increasing the implant length significantly reduced the peri-implant equivalent stress. In addition, single implant-supported cantilever bridge designs exhibited greater stress concentrations in the neck and should be used with caution in clinical practice, whereas double implant-supported fixed bridges exhibited better biomechanical properties and stability.
