Deletion of Pyruvate Carboxylase in Tubular Epithelial Cell Promotes Renal Fibrosis by Regulating SQOR/cGAS/STING‐Mediated Glycolysis (Adv. Sci. 13/2025)
Renal Fibrosis Article number 2408753 by Zhangzhe Peng and co‐workers reveals that pyruvate carboxylase (PC) deficiency in renal tubular epithelial cells exacerbates fibrosis by destabilizing SQOR, leading to mitochondrial damage, cGAS‐STING activation, and metabolic reprogramming. The cover depicts PC as the “Great Wall” interacting with SQOR (the flag), together protecting mitochondria from fibrosis, illustrating the critical role of PC‐SQOR interaction in maintaining mitochondrial stability and preventing renal fibrosis.
