THE CAUSES OF BULLYING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
School bullying is a social phenomenon that is widespread today in many countries of the world. The phenomenon of bullying was first described by the Scandinavian scientist D. Olvaeus. Dan Olvaeus conducted the first anonymous research in Norway and Sweden in the 1980s. This survey showed that 15% of children systematically face psychological and physical violence; 9% are victims of aggression; 7% are abusers (aggressors); 2% accept both roles. Currently, Dan Olvaeus acts as a global authority on bullying research. Dan Olvaeus defines "bullying" as purposeful, regularly repeated, aggressive behavior based on the inequality of social power and physical strength. The factors of bullying in younger schoolchildren include family factors and an understanding of the role of aggression in interacting with others and social regulators of aggressive behavior. The teacher and the parents of the children play a major role in the prevention of bullying in younger students.
