Chinese Garden Heritage and Modern Landscape Symbiosis: Sustainable Design Strategies
Traditional Chinese gardens, with their rich history and profound cultural significance, embody the philosophical, aesthetic, and ecological principles that have shaped Chinese society for thousands of years. They have become an important part of China's traditional culture. With the accelerated development of urbanization, garden heritage is facing dual challenges of protection and development. How to achieve harmonious coexistence with modern landscapes while respecting and protecting garden heritage has become a problem that needs to be addressed in the current field of landscape architecture. This study, based on the current situation of Chinese garden heritage protection and the trends of modern landscape design, explores innovative strategies for the symbiosis of garden heritage and modern landscapes, aiming to promote the development of sustainable design and achieve harmonious coexistence between garden heritage protection and modern landscape design, providing theoretical basis and practical guidance for the protection of Chinese garden heritage and modern landscape construction. The finding of the study indicates that integrated design is the best approach to preserving China's garden heritage and innovating the sustainability of modern landscapes. It is suggested that the governments improve the legal and regulatory system of garden heritage protection and provide legal guarantees for the protection and sustainable design of garden heritage.Designers and researchers are encouraged to carry out innovative practices, promote the use of new technologies in the protection and design of garden heritage.
