Conveying emotive nominatives with the root "-joy-" in the translation of Stephen Donaldson's "The Seventh Decimate"

The object of this research is expressive vocabulary, specifically emotive nominatives with the root "-joy-". The study is conducted at the intersection of literary stylistics and translation studies. The research aims to identify the specific features of conveying emotive nominatives with the root "-joy-" in the translation of an epic fantasy novel by a contemporary English-language writer. The analysis is based on Stephen Donaldson's "The Seventh Decimate," published in English in 2017 and in Russian in 2019. The scientific novelty of this study lies in the examination of strategies for conveying emotive nominatives with the root "-joy-" based on material untouched by other researchers, and in determining the connection between the frequency of the author's use of these lexical emotive means and his artistic style. The study resulted in the compilation of a list of emotive nominatives used by Stephen Donaldson and a description of possible ways to convey them when translating into Russian.
