Specificities of realization of grammatical class category in the structure of Ingush verb

The research objective is to identify the specific characteristics of the grammatical class category’s realization within the structure of the Ingush verb, based on a diachronic analysis of contemporary verb forms and verbal lexemes. Grammatical class is characterized herein as a type of agreement class present in the language. The study establishes that modern Ingush exhibits an external type of agreement class manifestation. The novelty of this research lies in the fact that it, for the first time, identifies within the structure of Ingush verbal stems rudimentary, fossilized class markers through diachronic analysis. These markers possibly functioned simultaneously as markers of person and number. Furthermore, these markers might be remnants of a personal conjugation system that once existed within the Ingush verb system. This allows us to propose that the modern Ingush grammatical class system and external agreement are phenomena of secondary origin. We hypothesize that the primary system was an internal agreement type grammatical class system.
