The history of urban passenger electric transport in the RSFSR during the Great Patriotic War: a concise overview of post-soviet historiography
The purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which the history of urban passenger electric transport during the Great Patriotic War has been studied in post-Soviet historiography. In the course of examining published works on this topic, they have been systematized into three groups. The first includes publications that examine the state of urban electric transport in the front-line and occupied regions of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR); the second concerns the development of tram and trolleybus traffic in rear areas; and the third encompasses works on transport of a general nature. The scholarly novelty is determined by the absence, in Russian historical science, of a systematic consideration of the processes of creation, development, restoration, and functioning of urban electric transport in 1941-1945, and also by the fact that a comprehensive study of post-Soviet historiography has been conducted for the first time, enabling the identification of the main thematic directions in publications on the history of tram and trolleybus operations during the Great Patriotic War. As a result of the conducted research, it was possible to assess the degree to which the history of trams and trolleybuses during the war period has been studied, and at the same time, to identify poorly studied and completely unresearched aspects in the issues under consideration.
