Short-Term Burst Simulation Study of Plastic–Steel–Plastic Composite Pipe Considering Fluid–Structure Interaction

In order to analyze the pressure bearing capacity (PBC) and failure mode of plastic–steel–plastic (PSP) composite pipe more accurately, a finite element analysis model for a short-term burst of PSP composite pipe considering fluid–structure interaction (FSI) was established using ANSYS software. By comparing the burst pressure, burst appearance, failure strain, and cross-sectional deformation, it was found that the simulated results were closely aligned with the measured results. On this basis, the influence of the diameter of the steel wires and the strength of the inner steel wires on the PBC of PSP composite pipes was discussed. The analysis revealed a positive linear correlation between both the diameters of the steel wires and the strength of the inner steel wires with the PBC. The results indicate that the short-term burst model considering FSI can effectively reproduce the experimental process and can be used for the mechanical performance analysis and structural optimization design of PSP composite pipes.
